If you were still on the fence regarding Democrats’ desire to gut the Second Amendment and confiscate Americans’ legally purchased, constitutionally owned firearms, 2020 Democratic presidential contender Robert “Beto” O’Rourke just put those doubts to rest.
The answer is a resounding “yes.”
During an interview with CNN host Chris “Fredo” Cuomo this week, O’Rourke made it crystal clear that as president he would have no issues forcing Americans to hand over certain guns first, then, eventually, all firearms.
Oh, and then he doubled back and said anyone who says he wants to take Americans’ guns away is just “fearmongering.”
“Are you, in fact, in favor of gun confiscation?” Cuomo asked.
“Yes, when it comes to AR-15s and AK-47s. Weapons designed for use on a military battlefield,” he responded (are there any other kinds of battlefields?).
“But when it comes to firearms for use in hunting or self-defense, the answer is ‘no,’ and I don’t want you or anyone else to get into the fear mongering that some have fallen prey to, saying that the government’s going to come and take all of your guns,” he continued.
“What we are talking about exclusively is weapons of war that have no place…on our streets and should remain on the battlefield,” O’Rourke said.
Huh?
For his part, Cuomo noted — correctly — “It’s not fear mongering. You just said it, Beto. You just said you’re going to confiscate guns. I don’t think you can do it, legally,” he added, citing the Heller case before the U.S. Supreme Court, which upheld the Second Amendment as an individual’s right to keep and bear arms and made no distinction about what kinds of firearms are “legal” to own.
“I don’t think we’ve ever seen the U.S. government do a taking of private property like what you’re suggesting, so I’m not fear mongering, I’m repeating what you’re saying.” (Related: State conservatives gearing up to battle against federal ‘red flag law’ as Dems AND Republicans back legislation.)

See? These clowns can be real journalists when they want to — and when they are attempting to disqualify a Democratic candidate they don’t support for the presidency (we guarantee if Beto had already locked up his party’s nomination Cuomo wouldn’t have been this aggressive in questioning him).
O’Rourke countered with some incoherent claims that if those guns aren’t taken away then more schools will be attacked — which may happen anyway even if so-called “assault” weapons were confiscated by Uncle Sam.
But the fact is, O’Rourke is wrong and Cuomo, for once, is right: These firearms are private property, they have not been deemed illegal and outside the purview of the Second Amendment, and therefore they cannot be confiscated — legally.
O’Rourke, it should be noted, isn’t saying anything that Cuomo doesn’t agree with (or any other Left-wing journalism). He’s also not saying anything that most Democratic politicians disagree with; they all want to take ARs and AKs away from Americans despite the fact that 99.99 percent of the people who own them have never shot anyone with them and are not going to take them to a school or a Walmart or a city street and commit mass murder with them.
They just don’t like the fact that O’Rourke is being so pointed and so open about his party’s desire to confiscate our guns. That’s not something that is to be discussed openly in public, you see.
Make no mistake: If Democrats regain power in Congress and in the White House, those guns will be targeted for confiscation. And they won’t be the last ones targeted, either. Murders will continue, and since most by far are committed with handguns, what do you think Democrats will go after next?
In the name of ‘common sense’ gun policies, of course.
